Pine Needles on the snow. (Texture-Patterns)

I was going to the gym for T'ai Chi lesson when I saw the pine needles in the snow.  I thought it looked like a great texture opportunity and to try using some app for post processing. Left image taken with iPhone 6s.  Post Processing done with PicsArt app.   Like that you could make the pine needles curvy & apply some swirls with FX feature. It has great filters too.

PicsArt Filters Used in Post Processing

Have been playing with some apps to alter photos as part of post processing.  I am going to be doing a presentation to the Triad Outdoor Photographer's group in March that is about Digital Art Alterations (DAA).   When I take a photo I don't necessary plan on it being printed exactly as I took it.   So, I have been playing with an app on my iPhone called PicsArt.   It has filters but also has the ability to use brushes and techniques that might lender more artist designs or to look more like graphic design than a photo. These photos can be shared on Facebook, Instagram, etc.  Both images taken with iPhone 6s,   Not sure if I used Camera+.  The cabbage uses various colors and I took it square.   This was just a filter I thought looked interesting because the multicolors gave the cabbage some pizzaz!!.  I am sorry I did not see the lighter leaf in the lower left foreground when I was taking the image.   The image on the right:  first I used a filter in the Windows 10 that is part of editing photos. It was called Arctic but I thought this reminded me of a cyan printing.   I am not sure it is accurate to the blue hue, but that could be changed. Then I further increased color and contrast within that program.  Last I changed the sharpness to give more depth in PSE 15.  Both of these images could be used for greeting cards.

Winter snow storm in GSO 1/17/2018

On Tuesday night and Wednesday we had a major snowstorm in the Triad.  It was like 26 degrees during the day.  I captured a few images of trees with snow about 5p.m.  Images taken with iPhone 6.  Faye, our dog, does not like the snow.

Probably will not get out my cul de sac until the snow melts as I am tier 3 for getting our residential street ploughed.

I thought the deck was a better way to demonstrate how much snow we got.  I think I need to think about making some snow cones or snow ice cream while the snow is still pristine. You cannot live in the Triad of NC without having, gloves, boots, shove, hat, scarves.

Raindrops Falling on My Winshield

It was a cloudy morning and went to get in my Prius.  It was raining.  Saw the opportunity to capture the image on the right which the iPhone 6 read as blue-green tint/hue.  I like the eerie effect but decided to convert to B & W in PSE 15. I downsized the images for posting to this blog and to PhotoNuts.   May try to use this as a background for my iColorama course. It will also be interesting to see what other filters in apps will do.

Pine Tree Branches in Winter B & W

Went to Forest Lawn Cemetery. GSO, NC, to take pictures of trees, branches, bark of trees in winter.  The image on the left is purposely under exposed to show more texture of the pine branches and cones as well as make sky more white. The image on the right I chose to use a filter in PSE 15 with special effects to make the image look more vintage,  No snow.  Cloudy day taken at 4 p.m.  Sony DSL-R  a700 camera with 200 mm Minolta lens.  Left image posted on Photo Nuts.

Beginning a New Photographic Journey 2018,

It is now 2018.  The image on the left is not mine but one from "Google Images".  I usually start my day with a cup of coffee.  This year I want to explore using apps  or post processing programs to change the appearance of my original photo.  Sometimes this can be dramatic if using invert filter or saturated film. When I take a photo, I do not always visualize it as staying the way I took it.  Using PSE 15 I converted the image to black & white using "portrait" since image was taken in color.   I have signed up for an iColorama course using the app on my iPhone.   I have always wanted to make digital collages.  Want to understand blending and brushes better.   Let the journey begin!!
